My Portfolio

Welcome to my portfolio. Here you will find a selection of my work. Explore my projects to hear more of what I do.

Lily

Originally a piano sketch for my lovely Lily, this piece for chamber orchestra is intended to be a slightly mischievous playful piece swapping melodies between woodwind, strings and brass in a lighthearted fashion.

Pulling Back the Curtains

An orchestral piece written whilst on a Thinkspace Bootcamp. Pull back the curtains to see what is beyond the known and visible

Uneasy Conversation

A relentless rising motif in the strings is broken up by answering phrases in the woodwind. A conversation which is slightly uncomfortable - prickly like a cactus. There is an outburst then after some further uneasy chit chat a trumpet acts as peacemaker to bring the piece to a close.

The Open Window

A simple piece using solo strings, oboe and flute from Instrument X by Dreamtonics. This does not use traditional sampling technology but neural acoustic modelling which affords more control of the sound. Other instrumentation in this piece uses traditional samples.

Pulling Some Strings

A short piece for strings and Piano. Driving pizzicato introduces a calming melody which is exchanged across the instruments. This is interrupted by a piano and string middle section with rising and resolving suspended fourths. The climbing melody ends the piece with lively piano interjections.

The Winds of Autumn

A piece for chamber orchestra. I have tried to portray the journey from the warmth of summer, through the calm and beauty of early autumn interrupted by the rain and storms as the season passes into the winter months.
